“I was born here but moved overseas, then came back with my family because home was calling.

When asked what his favourite thing about Rotorua is, Dave says, “the geothermal parts of the city, bathing in the thermal waters and enjoying the landscapes that the geothermal activity creates, [as well as] the back beach at Lake Tikitapu and Hot Water Beach, Lake Ōkāreka.

“The Buried Village has been run by multiple generations of my family over 90 years and it’s great to be part of keeping that going. I love the history of the area and sharing the stories with tourists and locals. I love talking to people from different walks of life, from different cultures and being able to share with them the beautiful place we live and work.”
