I Am Rotorua - Glen Law

I Am Rotorua

Glen Law teaches Year 8 students at Mokoia Intermediate School.

“There is so much that I really enjoy about working with a class, it’s always a lot of fun and always a pleasure. Seeing kids when they get something, it is just magic, a magical feeling. I’m very lucky to be where I am.”

Dancing is another passion of Glen’s and he’s one of the dance instructors for the annual Harcourts Dancing for Hospice event in Rotorua.

“[Dancing] is something I’ve been involved with most of my life, 46 years I’ve been involved. I love seeing – similar to the classroom actually – when people are learning something and they are enjoying something, they’re laughing, and they’re learning as well. They are learning to get around the dancefloor and doing things that they never thought they could do.

“I’m from Auckland originally, and I do love Auckland, but I could never, never live there again. Rotorua, it’s got so many wonderful things. The people are amazing, I’ve had times when I’ve needed a bit of help – my car, for example with a flat battery – and so many people just came to just offer help, and that doesn’t happen in Auckland. How could you not love the place, the Redwoods, the lakes, how central we are to everything, an hour away from beautiful beaches.”
