I Am Rotorua - Kaycie O'Connor

I Am Rotorua

When we asked Kaycie O’Connor to tell us about her passion, she said, “Taking steps into different paths and seeing where they lead! Rewind the record. I've worn various hats, each involving dipping my toes into something different!

“For me, passion projects span creative pursuits, sports, cars, and learning new things. I am a trustee of the Rotorua Lakeside Concert, a committee member of Rotorua Young Achievers, and I dabble in other committees. Most recently, I designed the graphics for the Rotorua Mountain Club’s ball and photographed local rugby games. Both put my graphic design and photography experience to use. A highlight of my work at Rotorua Trust is hearing about the range of brilliant initiatives people are involved with and seeing how they contribute positively.

“After living away from Rotorua for five years, I was drawn back to the warmth of my family and friends and the thrill of the speedway events at Paradise Valley. Having grown up around motorsport, it’s a nostalgic journey that brings a lot of good times together.

“I was on the road most weekends to head back, so I made the move! Returning to Rotorua, I got into mountain biking and yoga, joined a running club, entered walking events, dabbled in pottery, entered a couple of art exhibitions, started ink drawing and painting – the list goes on. I spend much of my time in the forest mountain biking, walking, or running, and I love having a good brunch with my friends!”

~Kaycie O’Connor, Communications & Strategy Manager at Rotorua Trust
