Harcourts Dancing for Hospice
Harcourts Dancing for Hospice is Rotorua’s most glamorous charity gala. In this unforgettable evening, 20 local personalities, many with no prior dance experience, train for 15 weeks to perform in front of a sold-out crowd of over 1,800 guests. This high-profile event has become a highlight of the Rotorua social calendar, blending entertainment, elegance, and heartfelt purpose.
Over eight events, Harcourts Dancing for Hospice has raised over $900,000 for Rotorua Community Hospice, helping provide Hospice care for people living with life-ending illnesses.
Whilst completely free of charge for people using Hospice services, it costs a lot to provide. As an essential health provider, Rotorua Hospice receives some funding from the Government, but financial support from the community is essential to meet the shortfall.
In Rotorua, we receive approximately 50% of our funding from Health NZ, resulting in a shortfall of around $1.2 million. We rely on the support of the community to help fundraise through a range of activities, including our retail shop, donations, grants, corporate partnerships, and fundraising events. Harcourts Dancing for Hospice is our largest fundraising event. In 2026, we anticipate raising over $100,000 through the support of local businesses, auctions, donations, and ticket sales. We also aim to increase awareness of Hospice services in our community.
